Organized by
Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL)
Date: 28 November, 5 December, 12 December 2016 (Monday)
Time: 9:30am - 4:45pm
Venue: Rm 321, 3/F, Run Run Shaw Building
(By INVITATION ONLY)
This Certificate programme has been jointly designed by the University’s Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) and the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom, and is aligned to the UK Professional Standards Framework (https://www.heacademy.ac.uk/ukpsf) for teachers in higher education.
The purpose of the programme is to provide a framework whereby participants can reflect upon and record their achievements in teaching and learning, not only in terms of classroom practice, but also in relation to quality assurance and enhancement, and the mentoring of others.
The programme is ideally suited to participants who have experience in leading in all three areas and have an interest in their experience being formally recognised. Staff who complete this programme will be encouraged to submit portfolio-based applications for Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
Programme Structure
The Programme consists of three modules, each lasting a full day.
The objective of Module 1 is to introduce participants to the United Kingdom Professional Standards Framework as a means of allowing them to submit an application for Senior Fellowship. This will be based upon a demonstration of their achievement in relation to areas of key importance in teaching and learning.
The objective of Module 2 is to encourage participants to reflect upon their roles in relation to Quality Assurance and Quality Enhancement processes, drawing heavily upon four key programme themes: “internationalisation”, “interdisciplinarity”, “assessment and feedback”, and “students as partners”. This will result in a case study that participants can use in support of their application for Senior Fellowship.
The objective of Module 3 is to encourage participants to reflect upon their roles in relation to mentoring and enhancing the practices of others, drawing upon the same four key programme themes. This will result in a second case study that participants can use in support of their application for Senior Fellowship.
